‘Twas the Night Before Christmas – For Another Faith

’Twas the night before Christmas, each faithful one knew.
“Could the Christians be right?” bothered more than a few.

Why would God become man? That would be blasphemy!
Did God humble himself? There’s no way that could be.

Not incarnate — no way. Clearly, God has no Son.
Virgin Mary? Okay. Divine Jesus? We shun.

Peace be upon him, a great Teacher for sure.
But free grace from heaven? Our prophet did not concur.

Weighing good works on scales, for our sins we must pay.
But Christmas proclaims there’s another way.

Tonight and tomorrow, we will worship and pray.
Will our feasting and gift giving get in the way?

Through our lives this community Christ’s example must see.
The trinity is real; God’s salvation is free.

Without Bibles or witness, their confusion won’t end.
God’s Word must ring true from beginning to end.

Our stockings are filled. We have hearts full of peace.
Yet we’re called to proclaim and pray for their release.

Five times daily they pray. We pray for their plight.
Merry Christmas to all! May we share and be light!
