Thursday Prayer Focus: Praise and Prayers for the Kinyamulenge Project

praying hands with Bible

The first Scripture in the Kinyamulenge language — the Gospel of Luke — was published earlier this year. The homeland of this people group is in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Many have fled the area to escape ongoing civil war. Please join in praising God for the work He is doing to give them His Word in their own language despite the regional instability that prevents onsite translation work.
Praise God for bringing together a team of translators and for providing a home base for their work in Louisville, Kentucky.
Praise God that over 600 people attended the dedication of Luke in Louisville and that thousands more watched from all over the world.
Praise God for the people’s positive responses and their desire for more.
The missionary who serves as translation advisor for this project wrote, “Now we’re dealing with all the momentum from the launch. Churches and believers from all over the world are contacting us, asking for books. We’re printing a lot more, since the numbers we started with weren’t nearly enough. It’s exhilarating and exhausting in equal measure.” Please join in praying for the translation work and for the many ministries that flow from it.
Pray that the team will finish translating the book of Acts this year.
Ask God to show the team effective, sustainable ways to print and distribute books to Kinyamulenge speakers living in many locations in Africa, the U.S., and elsewhere.
Pray especially for guidance as the team seeks viable, affordable options for printing Scripture and distributing it in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Pray for effective literacy initiatives so people will be able to read their Scriptures.
Ask God to raise up disciple makers in every Kinyamulenge-speaking community.
Pray that God will work through His Word and the ministry of trauma care to bring healing to people wounded by war and the struggles of living as refugees.
Ask God to build momentum as the translation team works toward making the entire Bible available in Kinyamulenge.
