Peter is a Zimenya man in East Africa. He serves as a pastor and as a member of the Pioneer Bible translation team.
In his work as a pastor, Peter read and used a Bible written in Swahili. He understood it, yet some of its deeper meaning didn’t come through because it wasn’t in his own language. Because of this, the people in his church — and other Zimenya believers — had little understanding of God’s character.
You helped change things for Peter with your support of Zimenya Scripture translation!
Peter became part of a team that began translating the Bible into Zimenya. One day the team was doing their final check of Genesis 16, which describes Hagar’s flight into the wilderness and God’s promise to provide for her and her son Ishmael.
A truth about God came alive for Peter. “This is great! It shows that God is watching over us, even when we think things are hopeless.”
Peter now sees God’s love for him and his people in a new way. The entire book of Genesis is now available in the Zimenya language, and Peter is using it for Bible study and teaching. He is able to show his people that God is watching over them despite the many hardships they face.
Thank you for helping provide the book of Genesis in the Zimenya language. With your support, hopelessness is being replaced by hope as Peter and his people meet God through His Word in their own language.
