Thursday Prayer Focus: 5 Ways to Pray for Hurting Teammates

praying hands with Bible

Prayer is vital to the fruitful ministries of our teammates as they seek to translate Scripture and make disciples in the places where God has led them. We invite you to pray for increased fruitfulness by lifting up teammates who are hurting as they face difficult circumstances.

  • Some of our teammates are feeling weary and discouraged. Ask God to help them develop healthy rhythms of work and rest. Ask Him to open their eyes to see the ways that He is at work in their lives and ministries. Ask Him to renew their resolve to be ambassadors of His love and peace among people who do not yet know Him.
  • Many teammates are currently focused on learning at least one new language. They need to be fluent in the language that is most widely used in their location, and they also need to learn the local language spoken by the people among whom they are serving. Ask God to uphold these teammates and to empower them to persevere through the times when they feel stuck and overwhelmed. Ask Him to help them find ways to minister joyfully to others, even with limited conversation skills.
  • Some places where we serve are experiencing political turmoil or social upheaval. Some are engaged in armed conflicts. Ask God to bring a just and lasting peace into these situations. Ask Him to overwhelm our teammates with His shalom — His all-encompassing peace — and to give them opportunities to speak words of peace, comfort, and encouragement to the people among whom they serve.
  • Obtaining and renewing all the required permits for living in some of the places where we serve can be challenging and time consuming, sometimes with no certainty of a positive outcome. Ask God to give His peace and encouragement to teammates who are — or soon will be — applying for whatever permits their cross-cultural location requires. Ask Him to grant them favor in the eyes of the officials who will be reviewing their applications and deciding whether to approve them. Ask Him to comfort teammates whose requests to enter or remain in their locations are denied.
  • Chronic illness affects some of our teammates, impacting their ability to fully engage in the ministries God has given them. Ask God to restore their bodies and hearts. Ask Him to show them ways to move forward in wisdom and truth.
