Donor Impact Story

The Dekamo People Are Listening to God’s Word Thanks to You!

Pastor Josu was shut out when he tried sharing about Jesus. You helped provide the New Testament in Dekamo, and now people are eager to listen to God’s Word in their own language!

Josu is a pastor in a Dekamo village in East Africa. Most of the people there follow a religion that does not acknowledge Jesus as the Son of God.

When Josu tried to share the Gospel with them and lead them to faith in Jesus, he ran into a problem.

But your support of the Dekamo New Testament translation gave Josu a way to reach people who had been shutting him out!

When Josu began carrying printed copies of the New Testament to share with people, some were more willing to talk to him. But most still resisted. Then a Dekamo Bible translator gave Josu an audio recording of the entire New Testament in Dekamo. Josu began playing the Dekamo audio Scriptures as he walked through the village. A large crowd would gather — amazed at hearing something in their own language!

Then Josu began playing the Dekamo audio Scriptures over the loudspeakers at his church building just before starting church services. Now, many of the same people who would not talk to him previously are coming to listen to God’s Word. Some are even staying when the church service begins!

Thank you for helping to break through the people’s resistance to learning about Jesus. Hearing God’s Word in their own Dekamo language is a vital first step toward choosing to follow Him!
