Donor Impact Story

You Provided Scripture in the Vlakh Language!

The Vlakh people had gaps in their understanding of God’s Word because it wasn’t in their own language.

Leva is a pastor who serves his own Vlakh-speaking Roma people in eastern Ukraine.

When he started ministering, he preached from the Russian or Ukrainian Bible. People understood some of the teaching. But there were gaps in their understanding because their language is Vlakh.

With your support, Bible translation started for the Vlakh people! Jonah was the first book translated.

As soon as Jonah was finished, Pastor Leva began to preach and teach from it. He and other pastors from the church recently went door to door, visiting Vlakh families and distributing illustrated copies of Jonah that you provided.

The Vlakh people were surprised and touched to have Scripture in their own language! The story of Jonah sparked their curiosity. And because of the pictures, people who could read it were easily able to share it with people who could not. Hearing God’s Word in their language brought tears of joy to their eyes.

As Pastor Leva shared, “The Vlakh people receive God’s Word in their own language with thirst. They want to read it, understand it, go deeper into it, and ask questions.”

Thank you for helping provide the book of Jonah in the Vlakh language. Because of you, many Vlakh people are learning to walk with God and are deepening their faith.
