Internship

Information Technology Internship

East Africa

People in this area of the world want a deeper understanding of the Bible in the language they know best. This goes beyond the Bible translation in the language of wider communication (LWC). We have seen numerous times where someone reads one of our mother tongue translations and says something like, “I never understood that verse until now.” We also see that our translations are a cultural bridge to peoples of a neighboring faith. Many of those of the neighboring faith wouldn’t be compelled to read the Bible available to them in the LWC, but when they see their mother tongue written they want to interact with it.

Information Technology (I.T.) is vital in keeping Bible translation efforts moving forward. An I.T. intern will have the opportunity to see what this work looks like on the mission field. Ideally, this intern will already have some experience and interest in I.T. and could travel to multiple translation offices doing repairs and updates to computers. This would also include the opportunity to assist with I.T. repairs and infrastructure at our main office in country.
