In an international non-profit operating across complex and restricted global landscapes, cybersecurity isn’t just about protecting systems, but also protecting people. Based in Dallas, you’ll help build a care-oriented security posture to shield global workers, sensitive data, and partner organizations from digital threats. You’ll join a uniquely bilingual department (English and American Sign Language) and you’ll be part of a vibrant cohort of Dallas-based interns to live and pray with, engage in local DFW evangelism alongside, and get plugged into local churches and area ministries together.
What You Might Actually Do
Digital risk in global missions changes quickly. Your work will balance proactive threat modeling and research with real-time incident support and general IT assistance.
- Care-Oriented Threat Modeling & OSINT: Conduct Open-Source Intelligence research and digital triage to evaluate risks specifically targeting international NGOs, faith-based groups, and remote field workers.
- Security Operations: Work with endpoint protection tools, secure cloud platforms, and threat mitigation technologies in live operational environments.
- Documentation & Training: Create practical, human-centered security guides and training resources for internal staff and frontline partner organizations.
- Incident Response & IT Support: Assist with cyber incident response procedures as needed while supporting broader IT Service Desk initiatives to keep team operations running smoothly.
- Bilingual & Deaf Culture Immersion: Serve alongside Deaf and hearing teammates. While active ASL fluency isn’t required, you will actively engage with ASL and Deaf culture daily.
Who This Is For
- Required Mindset: High mission alignment, care-oriented posture, adaptable, strong problem-solver, and eager to learn rather than relying solely on existing technical expertise.
- Target Majors: Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Intelligence Studies, or related fields (Minimum 2 years required).
- Core Skills: Basic grasp of networking principles (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs), OS fundamentals (Windows/macOS/Linux), core security concepts (phishing, encryption), and clear written communication.
